Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customer Service Trainee to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Customer Service Trainee, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and their families, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of medical billing, insurance, and patient accounts.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide accurate information in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work effectively in a high-volume call center environment, using a computer and telephone to resolve customer issues.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve questions and issues related to billing, coding, and denials.
  • Accurately document and update patient account information, making changes as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of insurance sequencing rules, medical billing guidelines, and laws impacting patient accounts.
  • Process payments, establish payment plans, and make adjustments to patient accounts as needed.
  • Proactively follow up with customers to resolve issues and ensure a positive experience.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in medical billing, cash application, or insurance follow-up, including 6 months of call center experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare, insurance terminology, and medical billing.
  • Ability to interpret an explanation of benefits and understand the system adjudication process.
  • Excellent customer service and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume call center environment, using a computer and telephone to resolve customer issues.
  • Proficient computer skills, including patient accounting systems.
Working Conditions

This position is exposed to an open call center office environment. Must be able to sit most of the workday. Open to working remotely from home if required.
