Position Overview

The Healthcare Access Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the necessary support and resources for their healthcare needs. This position involves managing patient registrations, maintaining accurate medical records, and handling incoming communications effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the waiting area and addresses any issues or concerns raised by patients, their families, or visitors.
  • Alerts relevant staff about complaints or concerns that need immediate attention.
  • Provides temporary solutions for various complaints or issues.
  • Collects precise information from patients during registration, including name, address, phone number, insurance details, and employment information.
  • Ensures all essential data is accurately entered into the system.
  • Photocopies identification and insurance cards, attaching them to patient charts.
  • Secures necessary signatures for consent and verifies address accuracy.
  • Assists medical professionals in retrieving information as required.
  • Offers general information to patients regarding fees and directs them to appropriate resources, such as social workers or financial assistance programs.
  • Provides support to Physicians, Department Managers, and clinical staff as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Handles patients' protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical Demands: The role may require occasional movement around the workplace, sitting, performing manual tasks, and using office equipment such as computers and telephones.
  • Mental Demands: The employee must be capable of following instructions, collaborating with team members, and managing stress effectively.
  • Work Environment: The noise level in the workplace is generally low.
