GEO Reentry Services LLC is seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team. As a Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing education and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse. If you are passionate about helping others and have a strong background in counseling, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities- Administer and score standardized substance abuse screening and assessment instruments for all participants entering the department of corrections.
- Determine the appropriate level of care based on the assessment, consistent with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level of Care.
- Provide various levels of substance abuse treatment based on the results of the screening and assessment.
- Conduct screenings and assessments during the intake process and back-end screenings for standing populations.
- Prepare written reports based on the results of the assessment and testing tools.
- Create and maintain individual treatment plans for participants.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions and group counseling.
- Maintain clinical charts per the Code of Maryland (COMAR) regulations and requirements.
- Complete discharge and aftercare plans.
- Participate in staffing regarding participants with other team members.
- Associate degree in Health and Human Services counseling field and an Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) designation OR;
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field and Certified Associate Counselor – Drug & Alcohol (CAC-AD) certification.
- Certified as an alcohol and drug counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
- Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner in both individual and group counseling settings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with participants, other staff, and leadership personnel and react quickly and appropriately in an emergency situation.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the Department.
