Role Summary:

The Rehabilitation Service Line at UNC Hospitals is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist I to join our outpatient clinic. This role focuses on pediatric neurological and developmental rehabilitation, addressing conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and more. Candidates with experience in managing complex pediatric neurological cases are preferred. Our pediatric therapy services include aquatic therapy, orthotic management, equipment evaluations, and advanced therapeutic techniques.

Qualifications:

At least two years of outpatient pediatric experience is highly desirable. The selected candidate will collaborate with a skilled team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, as well as other healthcare providers in interdisciplinary settings. Experience in clinics dealing with limb deficiencies and juvenile dermatomyositis is a plus. Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential in this dynamic environment. Leadership abilities are necessary to coordinate patient care across various disciplines and to mentor students in the clinic.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Diagnostic Assessment: Conducts both basic and advanced diagnostic evaluations in Physical Therapy for mobility-related disorders.
2. Education: Instructs and supervises graduate Physical Therapy students and clinical fellows. Contributes to innovative patient care programs.
3. Care Evaluation: Analyzes diagnostic results to set patient goals and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
4. Service Implementation: Applies current techniques to deliver effective rehabilitative services, prioritizing care based on patient needs.
5. Community Engagement: Acts as a resource for local health professionals and participates in community health initiatives.
6. Team Participation: Engages in departmental meetings and quality improvement activities.
7. Quality Assurance: Maintains accurate records of patient progress and participates in quality enhancement initiatives.

Additional Information:
Education: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program is required.
Licensure: Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina and hold BLS certification.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
