Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Android team in building high-quality, high-engagement TV experiences for our users. As a technical leader, you will provide guidance on system architecture and design tradeoffs, while also managing day-to-day partnership operations with Google and Amazon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to the Android team, including input on system architecture and design tradeoffs.
  • People Management: Manage and coach team members, providing high-quality feedback on performance and career development.
  • Application Development: Drive continuous improvements to the reliability, performance, and UI of the Android applications.
  • Partnership Operations: Manage day-to-day partnership operations with Google and Amazon, including technical integrations and app release process.
  • Release Management: Help the team manage and plan for application releases, including feature inclusion and release coordination.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor app performance and triage crashes, bugs, and performance regressions as they arise.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders across marketing, support, design, product, and data science teams to ensure smooth feature delivery.
  • Best Practices: Own and drive best practices within the codebase, leading by example by improving the codebase and its supporting documentation.
  • Hiring and Recruiting: Own and drive hiring and recruiting efforts for the growth of the team over time.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience
  • Experience with Kotlin, Coroutines, and their surrounding ecosystem
  • Experience developing an Android app for TV platforms
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose
  • Experience with MVVM, MVI, and/or Clean Architecture
  • Experience using SQL-based tools for application monitoring and alerting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with video playback and ExoPlayer
  • Experience with GraphQL-based APIs
  • Experience with TV Integration Framework
  • Experience with cross-device interoperability (e.g. casting)
  • Experience building multi-modal experiences
