Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and experience in accordance with Mountain Park Health Care's guiding principles, HIPAA, and other applicable federal and state laws. The Medical Assistant I position requires a solid foundation of knowledge regarding the functions necessary to be a Medical Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure HIPAA Compliance: Maintain patient privacy in accordance with the law, and with Mountain Park Health Care policies and procedures.
  • Instrument Handling: Handle sterile and dirty instruments used in the departments according to CLIA law and regulations.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Clean patient care areas in accordance with infection control procedures.
  • Exam Room Preparation: Keep exam rooms/procedure rooms stocked/set up according to departmental guidelines.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Routinely clean medical equipment to meet quality assurance. Identify equipment needing maintenance. Report malfunctioning equipment to Lead, and remove malfunctioning equipment out of patient care areas, if possible, for repair.
  • Charting and Documentation: Obtain and document chief complaint, vital signs, and medical/social histories per procedure.
  • Communication: Facilitate the completion of questionnaires, as needed.
  • Charting Procedure: Use proper charting procedure, i.e., noting date, time signature and job title.
  • Patient Scheduling: Manage telephone messages from department and ensure patient rescheduling with appropriate timeframes.
  • Medication Administration: Verify, administer, and document all medications and/or immunizations given. Including lot #, location, and initials, per procedure.
  • EHR Management: Manage EHR tasks for department daily, following established EHR workflow, including Labs/Di's, TE's, Documents, Actions and Consult Pending, etc.
  • Chart Preparation: Complete chart prep for department daily to include the review of any outstanding care items and reviews ASIIS, as appropriate; make updates to EMR as needed.
  • Interpreter Services: Utilize and/or schedule interpreter services as needed by the patient.
  • Supply Management: Check immunizations and supplies for expired items. Restock sterilization area and other shared areas with supplies including but not limited to urine cups, needles, gauze, band aids.
  • Waste Disposal: Ensure biohazard and sharps containers are properly disposed of or emptied.
  • Quality Assurance: Check fax outbox to ensure there are no failed faxes for department.
  • Accountability and Meetings: Complete daily accountability board and attend scheduled department meetings.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Must be able to adapt to working with different provider teams when needed for coverage.
  • Audit Preparation: Participate in preparing department for internal and external site audits.
  • Training and Certification: Maintain training, skills, and certifications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Attendance and Reliability: Consistent, reliable in-person attendance is required.
  • Other Duties: Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification: Medical Assistant Certificate
  • CPR Certification: Current CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electronic Health Record Experience: Electronic Health Record experience
  • Medical Back-Office Experience: At least one year of previous medical back-office experience
  • Credential: RMA or CMA credential
