Community Support Representative

Position: Family Services Coordinator (12 month) FLSA Status: Exempt
Reporting To: Assigned Content Area Coordinator
Location: Cove North Head Start
Position Summary:
The Family Services Coordinator (FSC) is responsible for ensuring that every Head Start child and their family receive high-quality services. The FSC will work diligently to build and maintain a positive relationship with each family, acting as an advocate and providing necessary support services. Collaboration with center staff and content area coordinators (Education, Family and Community Partnerships, Nutrition, Health, Mental Health, Disabilities, Eligibility/Selection) is essential to implement a comprehensive case management approach aimed at promoting family self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
(Education)
- Monitor classroom safety and address any concerns with appropriate personnel.
- Prioritize safety in all job functions and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Assist program staff and families with necessary health screenings and follow-up on health referrals.
- Maintain a record of health progress and assist families in establishing a medical home.
- Provide transportation for families to access essential resources when necessary.
(Family and Community Partnerships)
- Initiate the family partnership process, including home visits and family profile completion.
- Develop and maintain Community Partnership Agreements.
- Implement the Family Partnership Agreement (FPA) with families to meet identified goals.
- Maintain regular communication with families to ensure ongoing support.
- Coordinate with external agencies to achieve family goals and identify existing family plans.
(Mental Health/Disabilities)
- Assist families with transportation to assessments and appointments as needed.
(Eligibility/Selection/Recruitment/Enrollment/Attendance)
- Support recruitment efforts and screen applications for accuracy and completeness.
(Child Welfare)
- Support center staff in addressing instances of child abuse and assist in implementing support services.
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum: High School diploma. Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field with experience in service delivery to underprivileged populations.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of employment with a Head Start program is preferred; knowledge of interviewing techniques and client sensitivity is required.
Skills: Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with families. Must be flexible and possess well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions: May require occasional work outside of standard hours and travel to various centers. Regular interaction with families and community resources is expected.
Additional Information: Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to agency policies and standards.
