Position Overview
The primary objective of this role is to ensure that every student and staff member receives meals of exceptional nutritional value within a clean, friendly, and caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and assist in the serving of meals while adhering to established standards for hygiene and safety; proficiently operate all kitchen equipment; follow precise recipes and portion sizes, ensuring that service is conducted in a professional and efficient manner.
- - Utilize both objective and subjective measures to assess food quality.
- Adhere to protocols for checking the temperature of food and kitchen equipment.
- Comply with meal pattern guidelines when serving meals to students.
- Implement safety standards in the preparation, storage, and serving of food.
- Maintain personal hygiene practices to meet sanitation requirements.
- Process payments and provide change as necessary.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system for both students and adults.
- Accurately complete and maintain necessary documentation.
- Conduct inventory checks of food and supplies as required.
- Participate in job-related training sessions and workshops.
- Prepare daily bank deposits for collection by designated personnel.
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned.
Supervision Structure
This position operates under the guidance of the Operations Supervisor, Nutrition Coordinator, and Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
Staff Oversight
May oversee part-time, full-time, or temporary staff as directed by the Operations Supervisor. Authority to reward or discipline staff is not included; such actions are the responsibility of the Operations Supervisor.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this position.
While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, communicate, listen, and utilize hands to operate kitchen equipment. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
