Job Title: Trades Maintenance Specialist II

Join Pima County, AZ as a Trades Maintenance Specialist II and contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing operational and preventive maintenance of complex facilities, equipment, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform operational and preventive maintenance of complex facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Conduct critical repairs to complex systems, equipment, and related features to maintain system integrity and functions in accordance with standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Serve as a system or departmental technical expert in the maintenance and modification of complex equipment and systems.
  • Interpret and apply required codes, standards, rules, and regulations to work situations.
  • Prepare working sketches, drawings, and estimates of resources required for assigned projects.
  • Operate specialized equipment in direct support of other activities.
  • Recommend modifications to current equipment, facilities, processes, and systems to enhance operability, reliability, and compliance with industrial or governmental standards.
  • Act as work center shift supervisor in the absence of the TM Supervisor.
  • Inspect and approve work of supporting operations and maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate equipment and system modifications or maintenance with operations and maintenance staff, supported facility managers, or end-users to assure minimal disruption of services.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive equipment, materials, or end-products, particularly those associated with law enforcement and correctional activities.
Requirements:
  • Six years of direct journey-level work experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, water treatment, and/or general building maintenance.
  • OR: Three years of experience with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Specialist in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, water treatment, and/or general building maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with written communication, specifically with shift summaries and documentation of issues.
  • Experience performing visual site inspections for maintenance issues, including random follow-up quality control inspections for completed work.
  • Experience communicating with management regarding parts, supplies, and tools needed for maintenance projects.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Maximo, and Workday in a professional setting.
  • Minimum six months of experience in a maintenance setting in a lead, supervisor, or foreman capacity, overseeing a crew of four or larger.
  • Experience recognizing safety hazards and providing the necessary tools or equipment to safely carry out a task.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and associated tracking/scheduling.
  • Experience training maintenance staff as needed on the correct use of tools, equipment, or related apparatus.
  • Experience in/knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, water treatment, general building maintenance, and a good understanding of energy management systems.
