Job Summary

The Trade Specialist 2, HVAC performs a variety of tasks related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance, repair, and replacement. This includes troubleshooting the Energy Management Control System (EMCS) for operational needs, scheduling, performing, and reporting on central plants and unitary HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of skilled trades expertise, journey-level central plant and commercial direct expansion equipment maintenance and repair, and basic repair and maintenance of commercial facility systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule, perform, and report central plant and unitary HVAC work duties, coordinating with other staff, vendors, and inspectors to meet operational needs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of central plant equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, valves, and electric actuators.
  • Monitor, adjust, and repair energy management controls systems, including informational technology remote monitoring systems.
  • Service and maintain air handler and air filtration systems, adjusting belt tension and alignment and regularly changing filters to maintain clean coils and air delivery.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS).
  • Coordinate, conduct, and assist outside vendor work and equipment inspectors to ensure adherence to scheduling, safety, and performance guidelines.
  • Provide first-line onsite support for HVAC when campus needs arise and support the roving HVAC crew.
  • Maintain and adjust facilities maintenance and repair operating scheduling and tracking system.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and vocational or technical training in HVAC maintenance.
  • One to three years of related journey-level trade experience and EPA certification/license.
  • Valid Arizona driver license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of related journey-level trade experience.
Physical Requirements

This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a non-traditional work setting, stand or sit for prolonged periods, and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, reach, and twist. The ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight is also required. The position may involve exposure to hazardous conditions such as extreme heat, cold, infectious disease, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, tight spaces, or high places.
