We are seeking a highly skilled Trades Maintenance Specialist I to join our team at Pima County, AZ. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing journey-level maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting services for a variety of equipment, systems, and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Perform skilled analysis and repair of equipment, systems, and vehicles
- Lead others in highly skilled fabrication or modifications of existing or proposed equipment, facilities, systems, or their components
- Inspect, service, and maintain assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Perform quality control analysis on equipment or supported systems for proper functioning and perform remedial actions necessary to assure optimum operations
- Inspect, approve, or certify work of others (if certified or authorized to do so)
- Maintain comprehensive activity, operations, service, and usage records on supported vehicles, equipment, and systems
- Prepare oral and written activity reports
- Prepare estimates for unique or complex operations, maintenance, and special projects from rough sketches and engineering plans or drawings, and documents use and expenditure of materials, supplies, and equipment
- Prepare sketches and drawings for work proposed or in progress to communicate needed information to supervisors, subordinates, and contractors
- Coordinate own or work-unit activities with other work units, agencies, or contractors to assure optimal use of available resources and to minimize disruptions of service or support
- Monitor contractor performance (including contractor-supplied goods and services)
- Conduct on-the-job training for employees in assigned work-unit
- Store, handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials required, encountered, or generated in work activities
- Maintain security and accountability for all tools, equipment, and materials, particularly for work in medical, law enforcement, detention, or correctional settings
- Maintain and use safety and personal protective equipment
- Implement work-site traffic control procedures to ensure safety
- Explain rules, regulations, or procedures to the public and other County employees for use of County facilities
- Collect, label, transport, and analyze samples of fluids, solids, effluents, etc., encountered in work
- Completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship program in building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical and one year of journey-level experience in the same
- OR: Five years of journey-level experience in building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical
- OR: Two years of experience with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Technician in building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical
- General building maintenance: Minimum three (3) years of experience in general building maintenance
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC): Experience troubleshooting and repairing air handling equipment, performing filter changes, lubricating, inspecting, and documenting HVAC and chilled water equipment
- Electrical: Experience servicing and repairing commercial lighting fixtures, light controls, switches, and receptacles, troubleshooting electrical motors and motor control centers, replacing a variety of electrical motors and associated components
