We are seeking a Sous Chef - Bahia Restaurant who shares our passion for culinary excellence and brings enthusiasm to every task. Our team members have the opportunity to enhance our guests' experiences by providing exceptional knowledge and service in support of our esteemed organization.
The Opportunity:
Located on our rooftop terrace, Bahia offers an al fresco dining experience featuring Northern Mediterranean cuisine while embracing Miami's unique poolside lifestyle.
In this role, you will plan, organize, oversee, and direct the work of employees in the Bahia Kitchen Department responsible for food preparation, ensuring superior quality and consistency. You will assist in the planning and development of recipes and guarantee the correct preparation and presentation of all food items prepared through production and demonstration. Additionally, you will manage labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in Latin Influenced and/or East Mediterranean Cuisines.
- Three to five years of supervisory experience in multiple culinary/food & beverage departments in a fast-paced luxury environment.
- A college degree specializing in hotel/restaurant management or culinary arts, or equivalent experience is required.
- Availability to work all shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in operating computer equipment and food & beverage computer systems.
- Ability to operate and utilize culinary production equipment and tools.
- Strong reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry food items and operate culinary production equipment and tools.
- Capability to supervise, demonstrate, and expedite in various kitchen production areas.
- Continuous standing to supervise, demonstrate, and expedite in various kitchen production areas.
- Willingness to work eight to ten hour shifts; scheduled days and work hours may vary based on need.
