About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled General Manager Rail Operations to lead our rail operations team in New Haven, CT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our rail services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Authority and its Contract Manager
  • Manage a team of direct reports who oversee management, technical, administrative, and exempt staff
  • Oversee the performance of Key Management Personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
  • Ensure the safety, contract administration, daily train operations, facilities, workforce training, and maintenance of our rail network
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics to inform decision-making
  • Develop and implement programs, practices, standards, and procedures for passenger safety, rule adherence, operating schedules, and training
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and colleagues to achieve business objectives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction, or related field
  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in railroad operations, maintenance, engineering, contract, and project management
  • At least 8 years in a Senior Management/Leadership capacity for a FRA Regulated, Class 1 or Commuter Railroad
  • Knowledge of contract and project management within a railroad environment
  • Familiarity with labor relations and collective bargaining environments
  • Ability to make presentations to Senior Leadership, Governing Boards, and public stakeholder groups
  • Proven management and leadership skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service
