Position Overview

Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated professional:

CNS Healthcare, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, is committed to enhancing the well-being of our community members. The Youth Psychiatric Specialist will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, management services, care coordination, and follow-up consultations for children and adolescents facing diverse mental and behavioral health challenges. This role may also extend care to select young adults in transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct clinical services through thorough psychiatric evaluations, care coordination, and medication management for children and adolescents, including occasional young adults.
  • Diagnose and assess conditions in accordance with the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders.
  • Engage with caregivers, families, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care and tailored treatment recommendations.
  • Facilitate integrated care with both internal and external mental health and physical health providers.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests as clinically indicated.
  • Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and monitor patient adherence and side effects.
  • Advocate for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders when clinically appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families on chronic health issues, treatment options, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Participate in case reviews and contribute to the development of psychiatric programs and policies.
  • Engage in professional development and educational opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards in the clinical environment.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care approaches in service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with agency standards.
  • Contribute to quality care initiatives and uphold CNS Healthcare’s service standards.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing professional growth through continuous education.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Active board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in the State of Michigan.
  • Valid Michigan controlled substance license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience with children and adolescents.
  • Familiarity with mental health terminology and HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficient in electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Preferred:

  • Experience in community mental health settings.
  • Additional board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code and community mental health systems.
