Job Summary

The Delores Project is seeking a skilled Daytime Shelter Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our 24-7 shelter, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, providing on-shift support and supervision to staff, and collaborating with the Shelter Manager to achieve program goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate shelter operations to achieve program objectives
  • Enforce shelter policies and procedures with consistency
  • Ensure proper staffing and scheduling during shifts
  • Act in a responsible manner to ensure the safety of the community
  • Model good professional boundaries for staff and guests
  • Ensure proper intakes, orientations, and discharges are completed for each guest
  • Ensure shift duties are consistently and correctly completed
  • Ability to be directive when necessary
  • Ability to uphold hard or unpopular decisions when necessary
  • Ability to deliver constructive feedback to staff when necessary
  • Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
  • Lived experience relevant to or shared identities with those The Delores Project serves
  • Desire to work as part of a team to make decisions creatively and collaboratively
  • Lived or work experience with people who have been victims of trauma, mental health challenges, substance use disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and/or disabilities
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness, commitment to assuming the best intent of others
  • Prior training in mental health first aid, de-escalation, vicarious trauma, harm reduction, and crisis intervention
  • Ability to be non-judgmental of other people's identities and life choices
  • Understanding of professional boundaries and how to model and maintain them
  • Ability to positively and professionally represent The Delores Project to stakeholders
