We are currently seeking a Medical Administrative Assistant / Biologics Coordinator to become a vital part of our partner clinic, AboutSkin Dermatology and DermSurgery. This role is essential in supporting our team of highly skilled, Board-Certified Dermatologists who specialize in advanced surgical procedures and medical care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage incoming calls to the clinical triage line and ensure timely responses to voicemails.
  • Oversee prescription refill requests and assist in processing them efficiently.
  • Contact patients listed in the pathology log to communicate results and schedule follow-up appointments as directed by the clinician.
  • Monitor electronic prior authorization and refill requests through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Update the pathology log once treatment has been completed.
  • Assist patients in navigating the process of obtaining access to prescribed specialty medications.
  • Act as a liaison between the physician and the patient during the initiation process.
  • Coordinate biologic efforts, including utilizing Cover My Meds, liaising with insurance providers, completing enrollment forms, verifying benefits, submitting prior authorizations, and writing appeals and letters of medical necessity.
  • Document all communications and forms in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Engage with pharmacists, drug representatives, and field access representatives as necessary.
  • Submit medication prescriptions to specialty pharmacies as instructed by the physician in accordance with the patient's insurance plan.
  • Provide patient education and address patient inquiries promptly, ensuring timely updates regarding their status.
  • Check electronic faxes daily and triage them appropriately.
  • Maintain regular communication with physicians and patients throughout the initiation and renewal processes.
  • Provide coverage in the clinic as needed, including patient rooming and scribing duties.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with initiating and renewing prescriptions and authorizations for specialty medications.
  • Background in dermatology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMA by Modernizing Medicine is preferred.
