Building Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Avison Young. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial properties.
Responsibilities:- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Conduct inspections and tests to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
- Work with computer-based Building Management Systems (BMS) and other computerized monitoring systems.
- Maintain and operate fire life safety systems, emergency generators, and backup power supplies.
- Perform tasks such as taking bacterial dip-slide tests, recording results, and maintaining chemical levels in accordance with system plans.
- Monitor and oversee the operation of vertical transportation equipment, including elevators and escalators.
- Respond to service calls in a timely fashion, make repairs, and follow up with vendors as necessary.
- Provide technical support for buildings and assets, and perform regular maintenance inspections.
- 2-3 years of experience as a full-time maintenance technician or engineer in an office or commercial building environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and basic knowledge of computer systems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
