Maintainer - Building Maintenance Job Description

The American Museum of Natural History is seeking a skilled Maintainer - Building Maintenance to join our Facilities Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform light construction work, including repair and installation of flooring, doors, and walls
  • Work with adhesive and joining materials to seal open areas in building walls, floors, and ceilings
  • Install and repair flooring, including ceramic tile, VCT, cork, wood, and laminate floors
  • Perform minor roof repairs and patching, including maintenance of roof drains and gutters
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment
  • Repair toilets, faucets, and perform drain repairs as required
  • Assist Metal Mason, Carpenter, Painter, and Maintainers as required
Requirements:
  • FDNY Certifications required or to get within 6 months: G-60, F-60, S-12, and S-13
  • Ability to bend and crawl in tight places
  • Excellent finger dexterity
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and high manual dexterity
  • Must work well with others and as part of a team
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to move about the Museum campus

The expected salary for this position is $62,933.57/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
