Job Title: Senior Director of Development

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Senior Director of Development will be responsible for supporting fundraising programs for the School of Veterinary Medicine with a focus on securing philanthropic support for the two veterinary medical center campaigns.

The goals are to operationalize a program that builds a pipeline of grateful client prospects, alumni, and friends of the school, engages clinicians, administrators, volunteers, and others in the grateful client process, and supports the implementation and coordination of the VMC Campaigns.

This position will work closely with development team members and VMTH and Hobbs Center teams to ensure synergy and strategic involvement in VMC campaigns, disseminate up-to-date information and resources, and prepare and deliver presentations, speeches, and reports as needed to increase awareness of the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of Major & Principal Gift Fundraising programs: 70%
  • Development Operations & Program Management: 20%
  • Development Communications: 10%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Significant knowledge of, and experience in, all aspects of fundraising, donor, and public relations
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in fundraising as a successful major gift officer, including experience in developing proposals and successfully soliciting funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Expert professional knowledge of and skills in strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, persuasion/negotiation skills, and marketing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with human health hospital fundraising or veterinary hospital fundraising, university-level alumni, or other donor constituency groups
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills to successfully operationalize a grateful client program and support the implementation and coordination of the VMC Campaigns
