POSITION SUMMARY

The Mod Squad team member will be responsible for repairing, rebuilding, or servicing components on fire apparatus by utilizing skills acquired throughout the Rosenbauer production process. This role involves executing various departmental tasks to achieve challenging objectives necessary for completing the fire apparatus. Additionally, the position includes work in fabrication, plumbing, electrical systems, and final product assembly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Repair, rebuild, or service components on fire apparatus utilizing skills from all aspects of the Rosenbauer production process.
  2. Execute various departmental tasks to meet challenging objectives for the completion of fire apparatus.
  3. Engage in fabrication, plumbing, electrical work, chassis frame assembly, axle installation, air brake systems, and final product assembly.
  4. Utilize basic hand tools, grinders, sanders, torches, and other equipment to achieve objectives on fire apparatus.
  5. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to fulfill organizational needs.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

Hand tools, power tools, grinders, cut-off wheels, shears, welders, and measuring tapes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's):

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge across multiple departments (Electrical, Body Fabrication, and Finish) is essential.
  • Prior experience in automotive or diesel mechanics is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in building fire trucks is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude is required.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specification documents.
  • Proficient in reading and accurately understanding a tape measure.
  • Capable of following both written and verbal instructions.

Math:

  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer:

  • Ability to perform basic computer tasks to access information or make changes related to the build process and troubleshoot as necessary.

  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes in the production process, and adjust accordingly.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and multitask while meeting deadlines.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a team setting.
  • Able to understand and adhere to all safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for all.
