Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Ocular Electrophysiology Tech to support the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, and Adult Motility at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, with minimal travel to the Vision Institute.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Ocular Electrophysiology Laboratory in providing comprehensive visual electrophysiology diagnostic testing, including ERG, EOG, VEP, and Ultrasonography.
  • Develop and update testing protocols, taking into account abnormal eye movements, head postures, and physical restraints.
  • Perform electrophysiology tests, train staff on equipment and new technologies, and assist with research and cost comparisons.
  • Order and maintain supplies, work towards quality assurance, and contain costs.
  • Prepare patients for testing, apply electrodes, and ensure accurate logging and filing of data.
  • Communicate test results to patients and families, and participate in teaching and research initiatives.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an Ocular Electrophysiology Laboratory or 3 years experience in ocular testing with emphasis on visual field testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, preferably neurosciences, or equivalent experience.
  • Ophthalmic technician experience is preferred.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
