BluePearl Vet, LLC is seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Veterinary Specialist to join our esteemed team. In this role, you will play a vital part in diagnosing and treating eye-related conditions in companion animals.


Compensation:
$40.50 per hour
This salary is a starting point and will vary based on your experience and progression through our CareerTrax leveling system.

Additional Compensation:
We offer competitive shift differentials for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, which are based on a minimum of 4 hours.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct basic ophthalmic diagnostic assessments (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and assist in holding patients for comprehensive ocular examinations.
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic evaluations (retinal electrical function, etc.).
  • Prepare and assist in procedures and surgeries aimed at restoring comfort and vision, ranging from outpatient procedures to both basic and complex surgeries.
  • Outpatient procedures may include diamond burr debridement and CO2 laser treatments.
  • Participate in surgical interventions such as eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, and glaucoma surgery.
  • For patients under sedation or anesthesia, place IV catheters and fluids, administer medications through various routes, and monitor sedation/anesthesia with advanced skills.
  • Maintain and organize specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
  • Educate clients on their pets' ocular conditions and care.
