Optometrist Position at the Department of Veteran Affairs

Overview: The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a qualified optometrist to assess, manage, and treat visual disorders and diseases, as well as conditions related to systemic health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive optometric services and conduct thorough eye examinations to evaluate visual efficiency and performance utilizing various methodologies.
  • Employ both standard and advanced optometric techniques for ocular and visual assessments.
  • Perform external and internal eye examinations, referring any detected issues to the appropriate specialists.
  • Identify refractive errors and prescribe appropriate treatments for visual deficiencies.
  • Coordinate clinical schedules in collaboration with support personnel.
  • Serve as a consultant to other healthcare providers regarding ocular implications of systemic conditions or medications.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by the organization.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time role, operating Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Citizenship: Candidates must be U.S. citizens. Non-citizens may be considered if no qualified U.S. citizens are available.
  • Education: Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Licensure: A full and unrestricted optometry license is mandatory.
