Job Summary

The Department of Developmental Services - Headquarters is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Officer (Specialist) to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as providing financial guidance and support to our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform financial analysis and reporting to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective financial management
  • Provide financial guidance and support to department leadership and staff
  • Conduct audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Develop and manage budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary position that requires the ability to move about, stand, reach, stoop or bend. The position also requires the ability to use a personal computer for approximately 60-70% of total office time. The employee must be able to use various office machines, including a copier, scanner, fax, etc. May be required to transport items up to 25 pounds (files, boxes, books). During peak times, including year-end processing, requests for leave usage will be limited and approved on a case-by-case basis.

Special Requirements
  • Must have a valid California driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States
