Role Summary:

The Afterschool Program Educator is responsible for guiding a classroom within the afterschool initiative at St. Andrew's. This individual should possess a genuine affection for children, thrive in an afterschool atmosphere, and demonstrate adaptability and flexibility on a daily basis. The educator will serve as a positive influence on campus, reflecting the values of the organization to every family and staff member involved in the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Collaboration:
    • Assist the Director of Preschool/WATCH with weekly tasks as needed.
    • Participate in team efforts to support community gatherings and events.
    • Attend weekly team meetings and other staff gatherings.
  • Core Duties:
    • Engage with children from kindergarten through sixth grade in an afterschool setting.
    • Plan and organize activities and curriculum for both indoor and outdoor experiences.
    • Provide a nurturing, Christ-centered afterschool program that fosters learning and growth.
  • Environment Creation:
    • Collaborate effectively with team members.
    • Set up and dismantle the learning environment as required.
    • Establish welcoming spaces that inspire children to learn and play.
  • Child Safety and Support:
    • Ensure a safe emotional and physical environment for children.
    • Maintain professionalism in communication with teachers, parents, children, and staff.
    • Educate children in accordance with the developmental principles and values of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
  • Personal Development:
    • Complete general housekeeping tasks to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.
    • Develop a personal growth plan to share with your supervisor, focusing on enhancing strengths and addressing weaknesses in job performance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Act as a member of a team committed to Christian service, conducting oneself in a manner that aligns with the organization's values.
  • Utilize computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Keynote.
  • Be available for occasional weekend or evening events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Minister of Children's Ministries or Director of Preschool/WATCH.

Qualifications:

  • Active participation in a Christian Church, affirming the mission and values of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 12 College units.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (training provided).
  • Mandated Reporter certification (training provided).
