Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients with complex medical and emotional needs, demonstrating compassion and the ability to manage challenging behaviors in both individual and group settings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medical and behavioral interactions in health record management systems, including patient history, care plans, and billing information.
  • Facilitate the administration of consent forms and patient questionnaires as required.
  • Support medical and behavioral providers in the preparation and transfer of orders.
  • Process imaging requests in accordance with provider instructions, ensuring proper documentation and transfer of imaging data.
  • Prepare patient charts prior to encounters, ensuring all necessary documents are uploaded and organized.
  • Collect and record vital signs and initial screening information, including temperature and COVID-related forms.
  • Administer urine drug screenings and assist providers with interpretation and confirmation processes.
  • Review and assist providers with the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) report.
  • Manage referrals to external providers and community health resources as directed.
  • Document injection consents and assist with injection procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive patient support within the clinic, including appointment scheduling, authorization tracking, and follow-up on medical records requests.
  • Ensure that examination rooms are maintained in a clean and stocked condition, notifying supervisors when supplies are low.
  • Adhere to all legal and professional standards at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Respond to patient communications, including phone calls and messages, and make necessary follow-up calls.
  • Process laboratory orders and complete medical clearances as required for patient procedures.
  • Maintain an organized Excel spreadsheet to track patients eligible for advanced procedures, ensuring all necessary preparations are completed.
  • Coordinate scheduling for interventional pain procedures.
  • Follow up with personal injury patients regarding appointments and communications with legal representatives.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the effective operation of the clinic.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Medical Scribe certification is preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are preferred.

Physical Requirements: The role requires regular sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Vision capabilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The clinic operates in a high to moderate noise level environment.
