Job Title: Propulsion Engineer II

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Propulsion Engineer II, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing valves and mechanisms that control rocket engines.

This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. You'll work closely with our team of engineers to develop and test components, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

We're looking for a talented engineer who is passionate about space exploration and has a strong background in mechanical engineering. If you're a problem-solver with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop valves and mechanisms for rocket engines
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and test components
  • Collaborate with shop floor personnel to assemble and test components
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and quality
Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or physics desired)
  • 2+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) experience
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in engineering discipline
  • Experience with component fabrication (mill, lathe, CNC, welding, etc.)
  • Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis
  • Experience with cryogenic valves, hot gas turbine bypass valves, ancillary pneumatic valves, and related hardware
  • Liquid rocket or jet engine development experience working with pressurized fluid components
