BronxWorks is a leading social services agency dedicated to improving the economic and social well-being of individuals and families in the Bronx. As a Department Director, you will play a critical role in overseeing the implementation of programs and services that support our mission.

Responsibilities:

•Lead and manage a team of program directors and coordinators to ensure the successful delivery of programs and services.

•Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve program goals and objectives.

•Collaborate with agency management to ensure alignment with agency-wide initiatives.

•Manage budgets and resources to ensure effective program delivery.

•Build and maintain relationships with funding sources and stakeholders.

•Supervise and evaluate staff performance to ensure high-quality service delivery.

•Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to inform program development and improvement.

Supervisory expectations:

•Conduct regular meetings with program directors and coordinators to discuss program progress and challenges.

•Perform case record reviews to ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.

•Perform staff evaluations to assess performance and provide feedback.

•Organize and plan staff training to enhance skills and knowledge.

•Read, analyze, and respond to monthly reports from program directors.

•Assist with personnel issues and provide support to staff.

•Develop job descriptions and review and approve all staff hiring.

•Discipline staff as needed and review and approve vacation requests.

•Monitor staff compliance with agency guidelines.

•Assist in the termination of staff when necessary.

•Participate in interdepartmental meetings and events.

•Actively support agency-wide events.

•Share resources with other departments.

•Participate in relevant interagency organizations and coalitions.

•Represent the agency at public events.

Qualifications:

•Master's Degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business, or related field.

•Expertise in chosen field.

•Five to seven years experience in a social services agency with contract management responsibility.

•Three to five years supervisory experience.

•Solid budget management and grant writing experience.

Skills/Abilities:

•Excellent communication skills.

•Excellent computer skills.

•Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.

•Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

•Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.

•Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.

•Ability to climb five flights of stairs.

•Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.

•Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
