POSITION OVERVIEW

We are in search of a Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) to spearhead our quality initiatives. The QAS will be tasked with interpreting customer contract stipulations, engineering schematics, specifications, and other technical documentation to ensure adherence and effective application within the LMI Quality Management System (QMS). This role encompasses the entire spectrum of the QMS, from proposal evaluation to the final delivery and documentation of quality acceptance.

In all undertakings, the QAS will uphold LMI's Strategy, Quality Policy, and Core Values by reinforcing our dedication to total customer satisfaction, high-quality products and services, and the professional growth of our employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary duties and responsibilities of the QAS may vary based on the specific assignment within various operations and manufacturing sites at LMI Aerospace. The following list outlines the essential activities typical of this role:

  • Identify and articulate customer contractual obligations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for customers regarding quality-related matters.
  • Facilitate and support customer or industry quality audits and certification processes.
  • Develop Quality Assurance Program Plans as necessary.
  • Revise and maintain procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Conduct process and product audits to support quality compliance.
  • Engage in design reviews, design validation, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) support as required.
  • Formulate inspection plans and methodologies for manufacturing operations, including the necessary inspection tools and equipment to ensure efficient inspection processes. This includes the creation of First Article Inspection (FAI) plans when needed.
  • Assist and educate personnel in procedures and processes, establishing and documenting inspection criteria and process enhancements, including process audits.
  • Participate in and lead team-based corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality.
  • Utilize qualitative and statistical methodologies and tools to gather, summarize, analyze, interpret, and communicate process capability and performance, including key statistical process control (SPC) tools.
  • Oversee Root Cause and Corrective Action initiatives across the site.
  • Manage customer quality portals and ensure all actions are documented in the internal tracking system.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering, quality, or a related field is preferred, along with 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in the aerospace sector. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with the aerospace industry is preferred.
  • Experience in inspecting detailed parts, tooling, and assemblies is required. Aerospace inspection experience and knowledge of computer-aided design systems and digital product definitions are preferred.
  • Auditing experience is required, preferably with AS9000/AS9100 standards. Lead Auditor certification for AS9000/AS9100 is preferred.
  • Experience in conducting root cause analysis and developing corrective actions is essential.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to utilize enterprise applications (e.g., material resource planning, product lifecycle management) and various specialized software applications on a daily basis.
  • Certification in the Body of Knowledge for ASQ Quality Engineering is preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
