Job Summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Clinical Quality to lead our clinical quality and patient safety management programs. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of healthcare quality and safety principles, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement clinical quality and safety strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce risk.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize quality improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement organizational quality and safety goals.
  • Quality Improvement and Risk Management
    • Develop and implement quality improvement plans to address identified areas for improvement.
    • Lead root cause analysis and failure mode and effect analysis to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address quality and safety issues.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Develop and implement data collection and analysis plans to support quality improvement initiatives.
    • Present quality improvement metric reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
    • Develop and implement data-driven improvement principles and tools to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Education and Training
    • Develop and implement education and training programs to support quality improvement initiatives.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to support quality improvement initiatives.
    • Develop and implement curriculum for training and educational programs related to process improvement for quality improvement programs.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to quality and safety.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement organizational quality and safety goals.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field.
    • Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in clinical setting, health care administration, or a directly related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience with databases and spreadsheets or continuous quality improvement (CQI) tools.
  • Certifications
    • Professional Healthcare Quality Certificate within 24 months of hire (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Health care clinical license from the practicing/applicable state (e.g., Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Pharmacist (RPh), Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Social Worker).
