Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at Penn State Health. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for performing various stress tests and other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures. You will work closely with patients to prepare them for procedures, assess their condition, and provide care throughout the test. You will also be responsible for maintaining operational knowledge of Noninvasive Cardiology equipment and troubleshooting issues as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer treadmill and ergometer protocols for stress tests, including monitoring, recording, and interpreting EKG tracings for diagnostic purposes.
  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond according to emergency protocols, utilizing BLS and ACLS skills and obtaining emergency medical equipment.
  • Provide care to patients, including obtaining history, assessing patient condition, collecting and interpreting clinical information for appropriateness for ordered test, explaining procedure, and obtaining acknowledgement forms.
  • Maintain operational knowledge of Noninvasive Cardiology equipment and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties, including scheduling procedures, inventory management, and transport tracking.
  • Train and precept new employees.
  • Perform electrocardiograms and possess knowledge of rhythm recognition to notify physician of abnormal EKG and patient's total condition throughout the test.
  • Maintain clinical information and enter and retrieve patient data from software applications and EMR specific to testing being done.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology and/or other Allied Health related degree required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification) required within six months of hire.
  • CPR / BLS certificate for Health Care Providers required.
  • A minimum of 6 months clinical cardiovascular experience or equivalent internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist Certification desired.
  • Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) or AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (CCRP) Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional desired.
