Patient Access Coordinator

Your primary responsibility will be to serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and our healthcare team. You will be responsible for facilitating patient tracking and billing by obtaining and verifying accurate and complete demographic information, financially securing, and collecting out-of-pocket responsibility from guarantors to maximize hospital reimbursement.
In this role, you will maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA, and all other hospital and government regulations applicable to the Admissions settings and in handling of Medical Records. You will also provide excellent customer service at all times by effectively meeting customer needs, understanding who the customers are, and building quality relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA, and all other hospital and government regulations
* Provide excellent customer service
* Answer telephone in a professional and courteous manner
* Obtain and verify accurate and complete demographic information
* Verify insurance benefits for all plans associated with patients
* Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual insurance plans
* Maximize the efficiency and accuracy of the collection process
* Scan all registration and clinical documentation into the system
* Maintain cash drawer according to policies
* Maintain log of all patients, payments received, transfers, and hospital admissions
Requirements:
* High School Diploma or GED
* 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a healthcare setting
* Emergency Department registration experience
* Knowledge of various insurance plans and payors
* Basic understanding of medical terminology
* Excellent customer service
* Working knowledge of MS Office
