About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Baptist Neighborhood Hospital. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's revenue cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Patient Tracking and Billing: Obtain and verify accurate and complete demographic information, financially secure, and collect out-of-pocket responsibility from guarantors to maximize hospital reimbursement.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA, and all other hospital and government regulations applicable to the Admissions settings and in handling of Medical Records.
  • Answer Telephone and Record Messages: Communicate to appropriate medical staff and provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
  • Verify Insurance Benefits: Confirm the correct payor and plan is entered into the patient accounting system and obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual insurance plans where applicable.
  • Maximize Collection Efficiency: Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer service-oriented fashion and scan all registration and clinical documentation into the system and maintain all medical records.
  • Coordinate Patient Transfers: Assist with coordinating the transfer of patients to other hospitals when necessary and respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians, and hospitals.
  • Maintain a Clean Working Environment: Maintain a clean working environment for the facility, including the front desk, restroom, waiting room, break area, and patient rooms when assistance is needed by medical staff.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED: Required
  • 1 Year of Patient Registration and Insurance Verification Experience: Required; 2 years preferred
  • Emergency Department Registration Experience: Strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Various Insurance Plans: Required
  • Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology: Required
  • Excellent Customer Service: Required
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office: Strongly preferred
