The Eastern Star Church is dedicated to fostering the growth of healthy, well-rounded, and resilient youth within our community by offering safe, accessible, and high-quality programs and support services.

YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION

The Eastern Star Church provides a vital space for youth development through a variety of enriching activities. Our programs encompass academic support, social development, and recreational opportunities. We collaborate with the community to deliver workshops on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and college and career readiness. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment that promotes lifelong success for youth and families.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborate with the program administration to implement daily activities for youth programming.
  • Follow the established calendar of events and daily programming, including tracking youth attendance.
  • Monitor youth behavior, enforce safety protocols, and communicate safety guidelines effectively.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including safety, emergency preparedness, and youth guidance.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to participants to ensure a secure environment for all.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility by encouraging participant involvement.
  • Ensure all areas are clean and secure at the end of each session.
  • Assist in recruiting youth for various programs.
  • Support the execution of special events and activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to engage with the public, parents, and participants in a friendly and professional manner.

• Ability to communicate policies and implement appropriate guidance effectively.

• Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

• Strong verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment while interacting with participants, parents, and staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Previous experience working with youth preferred.

• Willingness to undergo training in Mental Health First Aid, First Aid, CPR, and safe food handling.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands of this role include the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to reach and handle objects, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate effectively.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Must be able to observe and monitor activities in various settings.

• Work part-time, averaging 25 hours per week, with flexibility for special events.
