Job Description

Acosta Group is seeking a Director, Total Absence, Disability Management to join our team. This role will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our total absence and disability management programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive roadmap for total absence and disability management, aligned with our business goals and Ways of Working.
  • Establish strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, including Human Resources, Legal, and Payroll, to lead cross-functional absence, leave, and accommodation initiatives.
  • Lead the team responsible for administering absence, disability, and accommodations policies across the organization.
  • Coordinate and implement policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support absence, disability, and accommodations operations and compliance.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure high service levels are met.
  • Stay current on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in leaves and accommodations law and practices, and apply that knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices, by reviewing and modifying policies, communications, and practices as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years' experience in leave administration in a large organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable knowledge and demonstrated work experience in compliance and administration of leaves under the Family and Medical Leave Act and leaves and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and comparable state and local leave laws, and other applicable laws and statutes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop direct reports, as well as influence business partners at all levels across the enterprise.
  • Progressive case management and return to work experience with a proven ability to assess and produce process improvements and efficiencies that have reduced expense, improved associate experience, and increased productivity.
  • Strong technical aptitude with advanced knowledge of leave and absence management systems.
  • Experience using Oracle and ServiceNow a plus.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to identify and resolve problems quickly.
  • Previous experience growing/scaling and evolving LOA/accommodations departments with experience planning and managing vendor transition preferred.
  • Track record of successful partnership and management of external vendors such as Third-Party Administrators, internal and external legal counsel, and other providers.
