University of Maryland, Baltimore - Lead Specialist for Parking Operations

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is actively seeking several Lead Specialists for Parking Operations to become part of the Department of Parking and Transportation Services.

The Office of Parking and Transportation Services is dedicated to delivering an exceptional parking and transportation experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

This role is essential and requires flexibility with rotating shifts, including walking and standing in various weather conditions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee daily operations of assigned shifts and parking facilities to ensure maximum efficiency and adherence to relevant policies and procedures.

• Supervise a team of Parking Ambassadors, develop weekly schedules for parking staff, and recruit and train new staff members.

• Conduct preventative maintenance on all parking equipment across various garages.

• Address general parking inquiries, requests, and complaints, escalating complex issues to management while providing insights on operational needs.

• Regularly inspect facilities to confirm that all systems are operational and accessible for users.

• Act as the on-site supervisor during special events, ensuring adequate staffing to assist customers and manage garage traffic flow.

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain the Parking and Revenue Control System (PARCS) equipment.

• Assist customers with on-site challenges such as battery jumps, lockouts, and security issues.

• Provide coverage for Parking Ambassadors as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: At least one year of experience in managing corporate, commercial, or university parking and transportation programs.

Supervisory Experience: A minimum of one year in work coordination, training, or direct supervision.

Other: Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements. Four years of experience in corporate, commercial, or university parking and transportation programs or facility management may replace the bachelor's degree.

This position is designated under the Clery Act as a campus security authority (CSA) and will comply with Clery Act requirements.

• Familiarity with position requirements, applicable regulations, and laws.

• Proficiency in the effective use of relevant technology and systems.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with others and work independently.
