Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Specialist to join our team at Giant Cement Holding Inc. as an Automation Technician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of automation initiatives to improve workplace safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain and repair plant automation control computers and operator interface systems, including servers, data acquisition systems, and user clients.
  • Coordinate and plan with the production group to improve plant operation through changes in control systems, computer programming, and process control.
  • Work closely with control room operators to resolve operational issues and make improvements to the information available to operators.
  • Collaborate with the Automation Engineer to troubleshoot and diagnose complex control system problems and implement solutions.
  • Coordinate with plant engineers to install capital project improvements that require automation and electrical systems and to specify equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Technician and/or Automation Technician, with skills in networking, PLC programming, DCS knowledge, and continuous process knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read standard blueprints, machine, and process drawings, and to sketch or redline existing drawings.
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to team work and fast learning.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project.
Working Conditions

The Automation Technician will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with frequent contact and coordination required with production supervision, operation planning, maintenance leads, and other departments.

Education/Experience

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and 2+ years of experience as a Technician and/or Automation Technician.
