OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
The Clinical Educator (CE) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the healthcare practices of learners by leveraging specialized knowledge, skills, and innovative approaches. This position is essential in providing, developing, and coordinating educational support tailored to specific service line areas, adapting as organizational needs evolve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To excel in this role, the individual must effectively manage the following responsibilities:

  • Learning Facilitator: Utilize educational design methodologies to identify and address knowledge and skill gaps through comprehensive needs assessments. Develop relevant materials and action plans to ensure successful learner outcomes.
  • Change Agent: Actively engage in transforming processes by inspiring and guiding the adoption of innovative practices, utilizing project management and improvement strategies.
  • Mentor: Foster professional growth by supporting the development of colleagues and promoting lifelong learning across various practice and educational settings.
  • Leader: Influence inter-professional collaboration and enhance learning environments, contributing to the advancement of nursing and healthcare.
  • Champion for Scientific Inquiry: Advocate for the generation and dissemination of new knowledge, utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care and patient outcomes.
  • Advocate for Nursing Professional Development: Promote and exemplify nursing professional development as a vital specialty within the healthcare sector.
  • Partner for Practice Transitions: Support healthcare professionals in their transitions across various roles and learning environments.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
The CE is accountable for several key performance indicators, including:

  • Orientation and Onboarding: Facilitate a seamless onboarding experience that integrates new employees into the organization, focusing on retention and professional growth.
  • Competency Management: Implement a dynamic competency management process that supports ongoing assessment and development of educational programs.
  • Educational Design: Create educational initiatives to address identified practice gaps for diverse target audiences, including patient education and continuing nursing education.
  • Professional Role Development: Assist in the professional growth and role transitions of colleagues, ensuring continuous development through lifelong learning.
  • Research and Quality Improvement: Engage in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to share expertise and achieve desired educational outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent is preferred, with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required to begin. A Bachelor's Degree (BSN) in nursing is necessary within two years of orientation. Candidates should possess at least five years of clinical nursing experience, with prior experience as a preceptor being advantageous.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Current RN license is required, along with Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Additional certifications in advanced specialty courses may be required based on service line needs.
