We are seeking a highly experienced Software Asset Manager to lead our global IT software asset governance framework and processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategically tracking and managing the financial, physical, licensing, and contractual aspects of software assets throughout their life cycle.

The Software Asset Manager will utilize industry knowledge of software policies, procedures, and compliance to improve and mature our SAM processes. This leader will work with other IT leaders to identify and control software licensing costs by leveraging industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of SAM strategies, tools, and managed service providers to efficiently manage software license inventories, software compliance, life cycle planning, and costing.

Develop and oversee IT policies and procedures to approve, acquire, and provision licenses, and to track and report software consumption, entitlements, and maintenance costs.

Continuously monitor and assess the current effective licensing position, driving optimization for proactive planning of renewals and new demand requests.

Advise project, program, infrastructure, and application portfolio managers on software licensing and compliance, recommending actions to optimize the software asset portfolio in support of business objectives.

Ensure transparency to all license entitlements and consumption data, implementing routine vendor audit and review management processes to mitigate risk and financial impacts.

Build software maintenance budgets and software-related detail in business cases and project budgets to ensure compliance with corporate policies, applicable standards, and legislation.

Requirements:

3-5 years' experience in software licensing, purchases, compliance, and negotiations related to enterprise software, SaaS, and other technologies.

Solid understanding of software asset life cycle management processes, tools, and technologies.

Strong working knowledge of commercial attributes of software licensing models, cloud computing solutions, and subscription-based agreements.

Preferred experience with SAM Tools and managed service providers.

Demonstrated ability to diagnose problem areas, identify improvement opportunities, and implement realistic solutions within time constraints.

Strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with technical staff, business stakeholders, and senior management.
