Role: Behavior Technician/Specialist

As a Behavior Technician/Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Applied Behavior Analysis Co-Director to implement effective strategies within the classroom. Your role will be crucial in helping students engage with the curriculum and achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives. This position is designed for the academic year, with potential opportunities for summer work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in executing instructional programs, including behavior management and self-help strategies.
  • Collaborate with the classroom team to enhance academic instruction and behavior interventions.
  • Support lesson execution as directed by the lead teacher, including independent work and small group instruction.
  • Contribute to classroom planning and material preparation alongside the teacher.
  • Facilitate student participation in classroom routines and assist with self-care tasks as needed.
  • Implement behavior intervention strategies in accordance with ABA guidelines as directed by the ABA Manager or Campus Director.
  • Provide mentorship and training to paraprofessionals on best practices.
  • Adhere to established behavioral support protocols and plans.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance in all interactions.
  • Support special education students with various needs, including physical assistance when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of behavioral characteristics related to autism and other behavioral challenges.
  • Foundation in applied behavior analysis is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, especially with parents and educational professionals.
  • Basic knowledge of instructional methods and educational curricula.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage emotionally charged situations.
  • Proven success in behavior management with students with special needs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card is required.
  • First aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
