Gift Planning Officer

The American Red Cross is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gift Planning Officer to join our team. As a key member of our development department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to secure planned gifts in support of our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive gift planning strategies to secure planned gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Cultivate and solicit new opportunities and development strategies for planned giving donors.
- Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers and staff.
- Manage overall gift planning strategy for complex portfolios and/or lines of service needs.
- Compile and analyze information about potential contributors for the development of sales strategies.
- Contact potential contributors and persuade them to contribute planned gifts.
- Implement and assist in the development of procedures for receiving, acknowledging, and reporting planned gifts.
- Implement and assist in the development of programs and marketing strategies to attract potential donors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in philanthropy studies, nonprofit management, law, finance, insurance, trust services, real estate, or other related field.
- Minimum 5 years of major gift or gift planning experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience with gifts of assets and life income gifts, including charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and pooled income funds.
- Knowledge of applicable principles, concepts, practices, and standards of planned giving vehicles and fundraising.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Basic proficiency in the use of personal computers, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications.
- Strong organization skills and good attention to detail.
- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current trends in gift planning.
- Collaborative leader who focuses on accuracy, consistency, and best practices.
- Great interpersonal skills, commitment to the cause, and adaptability.
- Expertise with the Colorado/Wyoming funding community.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $112,000 per year.
