Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive planned giving strategies to secure major gifts from individuals, trusts, and foundations.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, prospects, and volunteers to build trust and confidence in the American Red Cross.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to identify and pursue new opportunities for planned giving.
  • Provide exceptional donor service, ensuring timely and accurate acknowledgement and reporting of gifts.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and maximize fundraising effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in philanthropy, nonprofit management, law, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in major gift or gift planning, with a proven track record of securing planned gifts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and customer service.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience in database management and fundraising software a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CFRE, CFP, CAP, J.D., or LLM certification.
  • Experience with gifts of assets and life income gifts, including charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and pooled income funds.
  • Familiarity with the American Red Cross corporate culture and mission.
