Job Summary
Senior Planning Officer (Projects) Statutory is a critical role in implementing land use planning applications and projects that shape the City's regulatory framework and built environment. The position focuses on preparing, processing, and implementing land use planning policies, structure plans, development contributions plans, submissions, scheme amendments, and other projects and strategies for Council.

About the Role
This Senior Planning Officer will be responsible for timely assessment and delivery of various land use planning applications and projects, managing their own workload with minimal assistance. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of town planning practice, principles, and legislation relevant in a local government environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Formulate, collaborate, review, implement, and provide expert advice on local planning policies, scheme amendments, and other statutory projects that shape the City's regulatory framework.
• Effectively manage time and produce high-quality reports, documents, and recommendations that are clear and well-founded.
• Proficient at collaborating and negotiating with stakeholders, landowners, and others, coordinating public engagement programs and materials to achieve desired community outcomes in a complex planning policy and political environment.
• Secondary functions may include mentoring, allocating work, assisting Coordinators in operational management of designated employees, and making decisions in accordance with the City's Delegation of Authority Register.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
• Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering, or related area.
• Demonstrated experience processing and making recommendations on a wide range of planning applications within prescribed statutory timeframes.
• Advanced customer service and negotiation skills.
• Satisfactory National Police Certificate.
• Eligible for membership at the Planning Institute of Australia.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position will be $107,720.74 – $121,862.05 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
