Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics Department is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to provide critical support for the Pegasus research group's heating and current drive systems, as well as the broader experimental facility.

The Pegasus-III Experiment is a cutting-edge, ultra-low aspect ratio spherical tokamak located at the College of Engineering of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This unique facility utilizes local helicity injection to initiate plasmas, and the group is soon to install coaxial helicity injection and a microwave system.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise for the design, development, and operation of instrumentation systems for the Pegasus-III Experiment.
  • Collaborate with the research group to ensure the successful execution of experiments and data collection.
  • Develop and maintain multi-physics modeling tools, such as COMSOL, to simulate and analyze experimental results.
  • Work closely with the team to identify and resolve technical issues related to high voltage systems, RF/microwave sources, and experimental facility operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with high voltage systems.
  • Preferred experience with RF/microwave sources and components, as well as multi-physics modeling tools.
