At Blue Origin, we're driving innovation in space exploration and development of reusable launch vehicles. To achieve our mission, we require experienced professionals like you to join our team.
We're seeking a skilled Senior Fluids Systems Valve Design Engineer to support the development and operations of New Glenn, our heavy-lift launch vehicle. As part of this role, you'll design, analyze, develop, and qualify next-generation valves for use on our rocket. Your expertise will encompass the entire life cycle of the system, from definition to operation.
You'll work closely with suppliers or internal teams to identify and procure components, size and select materials, and analyze flow and structural integrity under various conditions. Additionally, you'll share in the team's impact on mechanical design, requirements, layouts, analysis, component selection, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and test definition.
To succeed in this position, you'll need proven skills in mechanical design, fluid/thermal analysis, structural analysis, material selection, manufacturing processes, engineering release, component/system development testing, and vendor management. Your technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality are essential in positively impacting safe human spaceflight.
This is a senior-level position that requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent, along with 7+ years of experience in designing aerospace fluid or mechanical systems. We prefer candidates with experience in valve design, 3D CAD programs (Creo), Finite Element Analysis tools (ANSYS), and proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
Apart from your technical skills, you should have excellent communication and collaboration abilities, as well as a solid understanding of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relevant to tubes, machined components, and welded hardware.
We offer an estimated salary range of $136,467 - $191,053 annually, based on location and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off includes up to four weeks per year and 14 company-paid holidays. A discretionary bonus allows employees to share in company results.
As an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, Blue Origin values diversity, inclusion, and teamwork. We foster a workplace where all employees recognize and appreciate individual differences, supporting trust, equality, and collaboration.
