Position Overview:
Maris Consulting Group℠ is seeking a Senior HVAC Design Engineer to join our esteemed team. This role offers the flexibility of a 6-month contract-to-hire arrangement, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
Remote Work Opportunity: This position is open to engineers who prefer to work remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert engineering support during the installation of industrial ammonia and central refrigeration systems, as well as commercial split systems.
- Design HVAC systems tailored for both commercial and industrial applications.
- Review and approve vendor submittal drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications and contractual obligations.
- Evaluate engineering drawings to confirm adherence to project specifications and standards.
- Assist in creating 2D and 3D CAD/BIM drawings and documentation from sketches and existing designs for refrigeration, HVAC, piping, and control systems.
- Contribute to bid and proposal development in collaboration with the Sales team.
- Conduct layout and dimensioning of equipment placements, pipe and ductwork routing, ensuring efficient installation and serviceability.
- Generate accurate 'As-Built' drawings based on field mark-ups post-construction.
- Perform essential system calculations, including load calculations and ammonia relief vent systems.
- Conduct heat transfer and thermodynamic analyses for equipment sizing and selection.
- Develop P&ID's, flow diagrams, equipment schedules, and specifications for refrigeration systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in HVAC design, particularly with industrial refrigeration systems.
- Experience with ammonia systems is highly preferred.
- Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification in one or more New England states is advantageous.
- Proficient in CAD and other drafting/design software.
- Ability to interpret and analyze construction drawings and P&ID's effectively.
- Strong knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, materials, and engineering standards.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful design and implementation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our projects.
