Position Overview
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is in search of skilled professionals for the role of Risk Management Specialist (Program/Project Coordinator).

Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for procurement and contractual agreements, including:
- Reviewing and amending contract terms related to insurance.
- Monitoring lease agreements and holdings.
- Updating insurance requirement templates and enhancing contractual language for County agreements regarding liability and insurance.
- Collaborating with Purchasing and other divisions to optimize processes and improve web-accessible services.

2. Liaise with insurance brokers, providing essential data on property, liability, pollution, and other insurance products to safeguard the County.

3. Assist in the preparation of applications for all County insurance products.

4. Participate in various meetings, including contract negotiations, risk assessments, and claim reviews, while engaging in the negotiation and procurement of insurance coverage for the County.

5. Stay informed about legislative developments concerning property, casualty, and liability issues, including FEMA regulations.

6. Review capital improvement and construction projects for risk evaluation and recommend necessary enhancements or actions.

7. Oversee data collection from other agencies, refine procedures, and educate stakeholders on the risk management process and the significance of Enterprise Risk Management (ERP) to the County.

8. Support the Risk Management Information System (RMIS) with active participation and expertise.

9. Assist in the review of property claims, liaising with attorneys regarding contract language, and conducting audits of insurance certificates to mitigate risk and financial losses.

10. Maintain computerized records of certificates of insurance (COI), ensuring compliance with minimum insurance requirements for vendors and contractors, and managing data collection effectively.

Qualifications
Education:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business, public administration, or a closely related field. (One year of relevant experience may substitute for each year of required education.)

Experience:
Requires two (2) years of experience in a staff or administrative role managing special projects, programs, or business operations relevant to the assignment.

Certifications:
Preferred certifications include:
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
- Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP)
- Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU)
- Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI)
- Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
- 2-20 All Lines Property & Casualty License
- Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
- Associate in Claims (AIC)
- Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS)

Core Responsibilities
1. Manage and coordinate all aspects of significant programs or projects within the agency.
2. Plan, develop, authorize, implement, supervise, and evaluate programs/projects and services; prepare reports and analyze data.
3. Develop policies and procedures related to programs/projects and services.
4. Promote and assess agency programs and services; plan and implement community-wide events.
5. Implement funding opportunities, including grant proposals, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
6. Review and monitor project records and documentation.
7. Conduct special studies, analyze data, and provide recommendations.
8. Maintain performance reports and communicate key procedural changes to staff.
