Required License/Registration/Certification:

Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) at the time of employment.

Physical Requirements:

Work is primarily conducted indoors.
Requires prolonged periods of sitting and the ability to maintain focus despite potential distractions.
Exposure to various odors, including potentially unpleasant sensations.
Risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous substances.
Ability to perform under pressure and manage stress with minimal oversight.

Shift:

Monday – Friday, (40 hours/week), 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our laboratory team. This role involves executing laboratory protocols under the guidance of the Cytopathology Supervisor.

The successful candidate will meet established performance benchmarks for competency and proficiency assessments. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting primary evaluations of cytology slides with precision.
- Maintaining consistent detection rates for abnormalities while adhering to error rate thresholds.
- Performing immediate adequacy assessments for aspirate and touch prep slides.
- Utilizing the laboratory information system effectively to document all procedures and enter interpretations for reports.
- Ensuring all necessary documentation is recorded clearly and legibly.
- Demonstrating composure in high-pressure scenarios and making prompt decisions.
- Adapting to changing priorities as urgent situations arise.
- Staying informed on new methodologies and updates in the Cytology procedure manual.
- Participating in or assisting with projects or tasks as directed by the supervisor or director.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

Eligibility for Professional License; Registration or Certification, 5. Certification.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment onsite slide screening assessment.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Experience with ThinPrep and Hologic imaging systems is preferred. A minimum of 3 years in cytotechnology is advantageous but not mandatory.
