Job Description and Position Requirements

Penn State University Libraries invites applicants for the position of Part-time Evening Library Services Assistant at Penn State Schuylkill's Ciletti Memorial Library.

The successful candidate will provide excellent personalized service to all library users, and possess a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

They must also demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also independently.

Responsibilities include providing front-line support to assist library users with common borrowing, information, and technological needs, overseeing library space and performing closing duties, overseeing student workers during assigned shifts, and assisting with outreach activities.

This position is for approximately 20 hours/week, working Monday-Thursday and covering the closing shift until 8pm. Days and hours are subject to change according to library usage patterns and departmental needs.

Required qualifications include an associate degree or higher plus one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, ability to effectively and efficiently share knowledge with others through oral and written communication, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, demonstrated ability to learn new skills independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment, high degree of reliability and accountability in managing tasks and responsibilities, and keen attention to detail ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work.

Preferred qualifications include previous library or public service experience.

Compensation is $15/hour.
