Family Therapist Job Description

Mount Prospect Academy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Therapist to join our dedicated team in providing expert therapeutic services to young individuals and their families.

Job Summary:

  • Provide culturally sensitive, therapeutic services to students and their caregivers.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, behavioral support plans, and safety plans.
  • Facilitate individual and family treatment sessions, predominantly within the home but also in the residential milieu when required.
  • Work with residents and families to develop short- and long-term treatment plans.
  • Act as agency liaison with contracting agencies, advocates, and guardians.
  • Maintain records for contract and state compliance.
  • Develop and maintain community, governmental, and other public and private resources and relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and case conceptualizations to inform treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based family therapy modalities.
  • Provide documentation via SOAP notes in the Kaleidacare system for family sessions and group counseling notes for situations where there is more than one student.
  • Meet with the treatment team to assist in reaching the student's permanency plan goal.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience counseling adolescents and/or families, preferably in home-based or residential settings.
  • Experience with evidence-based family therapy modalities preferred but not required.
  • Must complete background check.
